- Drink more bottled water.
- Do greet a Ghanaian before requesting any service.
- Learn some basic words (language lessons) and phrases to communicate with locals. Learning a couple of them will make a great impact in your entire journey.
- Greet group of people from right to left order and always with the right hand. On friendly terms after the usual handshakes, your middle finger snaps the middle finger of the person you are shaking. The louder the snap, the better, and it is acceptable to try the snap a second time if you miss the first one. Greetings in Ghana is a big deal so do not joke with it.
- Be certain to treat those you interact with or talk to as fellow human beings, with respect and dignity. This is strongly part of Ghana. Respect local customs and traditions, elders. Realize that you in a different environment.
- In addressing any issues, your needs or wishes with the people you come across with, be very specific. The more specific you are, to more correct will the outcome be.

Please don’t do them
- Do not make a face if something does not agree to your taste buds, politely push it aside. Making a face is considered rude.
- Do not cross your legs in a house of worship or in front of a chief , or a person of higher status or rank, this is considered offensive.
- Do not take pictures of other people or place without taking consent; do not take pictures of government buildings or military installations.
- Do not smell the food you are about to eat.
- Do not spit or throw trash/ rubbish on the street. You may see rubbish everywhere, but people will frown against littering the country.
- Never purchase illegal substances ; marijuana, cocaine and more
- Exchange items, greet people with your right hand but not the left. Using the left hand for gestures or greeting is considered highly disrespectful
- Do not make any funny or offensive about a religion, tribe or any group of people
- Do not kiss in public or making out in public. Ghana is a conservative country

Come with open eyes and an open mind knowing that Ghana is a developing nation. Weather, power outages, internet services, poor maintenance may cause inconveniences so be patient. There are a lot to do and we can be a positive and contributory part of it.
